Biography:
Meet Mike Elster of Roseville California.
I have been an avid trout and kokanee fisherman for over 20 years, primarily fishing most of the major lakes in northern California. I retired from the high tech industry (36 years) in November, 2006 and I wanted to do something outdoors and guiding was the perfect thing for me to do. I have a cabin in Douglas City and pretty much live there from March through October. My guide service focus’ on Whiskeytown Lake where I target Kokanee, Rainbows and Kings. I also fish Trinity Lake and Shasta Lake. I have a 20’ Duckworth with a 130 HP Honda and 8HP Yamaha kicker, Walker Tournament Downriggers and Lowrance GPS/Fish Finder. I plan to open up the cabin in mid March and I’ll immediately start fishing Trinity Lake. I also fish Lake Almanor several times a year and have planned a 5 day trip to Almanor in early April. I really enjoy sharing my experience and equipment with my clients and friends, plus I get to learn a thing or two from them.
